देवप्रयाग। 27 मार्च की सुबह देवप्रयाग नगरी को झकझोर देने वाली मनहूस खबर दे गयी। पूरा शहर सन्न और हक्का-बक्का रह गया। इस धर्मनगरी की सुंदर होनहार बिटिया नंदिनी एक सड़क दुर्घटना में काल कवलित हो गयी। इस घाव को भरने में न जाने कितना समय लगेगा।
नंदिनी कोटियाल श्री रघुनाथ कीर्ति परिसर में साहित्य विभाग के सहायकाचार्य डॉ.शैलेन्द्रनारायण कोटियाल जी की पुत्री थी।
बताया गया कि नंदिनी आज स्कूटी से देवप्रयाग से श्रीनगर जा रही थी कि उसके पीछे चल रही विश्वनाथ निजी कंपनी की बस ने उसे श्रीनगर से लगभग दस किलोमीटर पहले मलेथा नामक स्थान पर टक्कर मार दी। नंदिनी को श्रीनगर अस्पताल ले जाया गया। वहाँ उसकी मृत्यु हो गयी।
डॉ.कोटियाल को अस्पताल जाकर ही इस वीभत्स घटना का पता चला। पहले उन्हें नंदिनी के घायल होने की जानकारी फोन पर दी गयी थी।
लगभग 12 बजे यह हृदय विदारक समाचार हमारे परिसर में फैल गया। किसीको भी आसानी से विश्वास इसलिए नहीं हुआ,क्योंकि नंदिनी परसों 25 मार्च को यहाँ वेद विभाग की संगोष्ठी में पत्रवाचन करने आयी थी। वह इस परिसर में आयोजित होने वाली संगोष्ठियों में भागीदारी करने आती रहती थी। वह इस शहर और इस परिसर की आशा ही नहीं,संस्कृत जगत की भी उम्मीद थी। देवसंस्कृति विश्वविद्यालय से नंदिनी ने बीएड किया था। संस्कृत से एमए करने के बाद वह हेमवती नंदन गढ़वाल केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय,श्रीनगर से पीएचडी कर रही थी। लगभग दो महीने बाद उसकी पीएचडी पूरी होने वाली थी। इस प्रकार तीन विश्वविद्यालयों से जुडी़ मेधावी नंदिनी के असमय विदा होने के कष्टदायी समाचार से इन तीनों संस्थानों में गम का माहौल है। गढ़वाल विश्वविद्यालय में आज एक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तावित था,जिसे स्थगित कर दिया गया। श्री रघुनाथ कीर्ति परिसर में दिनभर इस अनहोनी की चर्चा रही। नंदिनी का चेहरा परिसर के हर सदस्य की आंखों में तैरता रहा।
पोस्टमॉर्टम इत्यादि औपचारिकताओं के बाद शव परिजनों को सुपुर्द किया गया। शाम साढे़ पांच बजे लगभग गंगा के किनारे नंदिनी की अंत्येष्टि कर दी गयी। शहर के अनेक नागरिकों ने नम आंखों से नंदिनी को विदाई दी। श्री रघुनाथ कीर्ति परिसर के निदेशक प्रो.पीवीबी सुब्रह्मण्यम सहित अनेक प्राध्यापकों के साथ घाट पर पहुंच नंदिनी को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।
गंगा की लहरों की विकरालता और लहरों के टूटकर बिखर जाने से लगता था कि गंगा भी इस मासूम की मौत पर मार्मिक आर्तनाद कर रही है। बताते हैं कि नंदिनी उच्चशिक्षा क्षेत्र में शिक्षण में जाने के लिए जी-तोड़ परिश्रम कर रही थी,परंतु विधि की कुछ और ही योजना थी।
उल्लेखनीय है कि ऋषिकेश और श्रीनगर राजमार्ग पर वाहनों के बेतरतीब संचालन से हर दिन दुर्घटनाएं हो रही हैं। शायद ही कोई दिन हो,जब इस मार्ग पर कोई हादसा न हो। बस और ट्रकों से ही प्रायः दुर्घटनाएं होती हैं। दुपहिया वाहनों से चलना बडा़ रिस्की हो चुका है,परंतु मध्यमवर्गीय परिवारों के पास इसका कोई विकल्प भी तो नहीं। इससे भी बडी़ समस्या यह कि श्रीनगर और ऋषिकेश के बीच कोई बडी़ दुर्घटना हो जाए तो कोई बडा़ अस्पताल नहीं। आज हादसों पर जनजागरूकता फैलाने की बडी़ आवश्यकता है।
